About Us Arrow Introduction
A strong sense of responsibility for the well being of the soldier and his family, constitutes a pivotal and sacrosanct aspect of army life at all levels of military command. In this endeavour the commander has traditionally received unstinting support from his wife .

The urge for the welfare of army families began soon after independence, and the movement grew steadily in strength and scope.

The Army Wives Welfare Association Was officially registered as an NGO with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi Administration in August 1966. A voluntary organization, AWWA aims at the holistic development and well being of army wives and children, as well as the rehabilitation of war widows.

At the organizational apex is the President AWWA, who is the wife of the incumbent chief of Army Staff. The President AWWA sets guidelines and gives impetus at the highest level, dealing personally with intractable cases. Down the family tree are the presidents of Regional AWWAs at the level of the Army Command, below which function all the Corps and Divisional AWWAs.
