BRIF FWO ACTIVITES ARTRAC & CAT ‘A’ ESTS

Gen
1. Welfare Org along with its 30 Cat ‘A’ Ests are continuously thriving towards achieving higher goals and objectives. Over the years Army Training command, Welfare Org has carved a niche for itself amongst its fraternity.
2. Our focus areas and achievements are enumerated in succeeding paragraphs.
Shaurya Army Primary Schools.
3. The 20 Shaurya Army Primary Schools in our Cat A Ests have strength of students varying between 90 to 600. We in the ARTRAC have ensured standardization of pre - school education with emphasis on moral and value added education. Having adopted the play way method of teaching, the benefits of the same have become visible in changing the outlook of the primary children and arousing their interest towards various activates.
4. Two orientation workshop for teachers on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) were conducted during the year. The teachers have immensely gained, and the dividends are beginning to show amongst the students. The ECCE workshops, conducted at ACC & School from 08 Dec 09 to 11 Dec 09, was attended by 38 teachers and the second Workshop was conducted at Inf School, Mhow from 03 May 10 to 06 May 10, this was attended by 51 teachers.
Vocational Training Activities.
5. A large no of vocational activities were conducted to empower our families and make them self reliant. The training conducted by ARTRAC and its 30 cat ‘A’ Ests, Primary included the following:-
(a) Tailoring and Embroidery.
(b) Toy Making.
(c) Cooking/ Baking.
(d) Flowers and Candle Making.
(e) Beautician.
(f) Personality development.
(g) English Speaking.
(h) Computers.
(j) Decoupage.
(k) Dance.
6. Embroidery and tailoring classes at No of Vocational Centeres were conducted under the aegis of Usha International and State run Agencies.
Employment Generation.
7. Employment generation for retired jawans, families and widows was one of the objective of the org. the jobs created were for teachers, medical attendants, beauticians and ayas. The No of Jobs created at various Cat A Ests were 85.
Settlement of Financial Dues of Deceased Soldiers.
8. During the year, financial dues of six PBOR families of ARTRAC fraternity were settled in consultation with Records Officers and CDA pensions.
Financial Assistance.
9. Financial assistance was provided to widows and families of PBOR for medical and other reasons, exemption of tuition fees of Special Children and scholarships to wards of PBOR who have excelled in academics. The details of assistance provided is as under:-

Nari Shiksa
10. Empowerment of women being a key area, for 334 read 524 of our families attended the “ Nari Shiksha”. They were imparted essential knowledge on various aspects which would help them in their routine activities. Nari Shiksa was conducted on the following major subjects:-
(a) Good Health & Dental care.
(b) Spoken English.
(c) Medical Awareness Camps.
(d) General Awareness.
Veer Nari Sammelan at Shimla.
11. To strengthen the bonds and maintain a sense of belonging with the families of brave hearts of Himachal Pradesh, a Veernari sammelan was organized under the aegis of Mrs Sabinder Lamba, Regional President Family Welfare Organisation ARTRAC, Shimla.
12. At the outset Regional President welcomed all the families and praised the soldiers and their families of Himachal Pradesh for their contribution towards the defence of the Nation. She interacted with each of the families to know about their grievances and suggested remedial measures.
13. Veernaris were apprised by Col AS Kashyap (retd) Dy Dir ESM, Shimla and Kinnaur on the functioning of Zila Sainik Boards and facilities provided to representatives of Defence Pension Department and the medical teams to resolve their problems.
14. The sammelan was a grand success, which was attended by 143 Veernaris of Shimla, Kinnaur, Solan, Bilaspur and Hamirpur districts. Veernaris were felicited by Mrs Sabinder Lamba by honoring them with a shawl and a cash award of Rs 2100/-.
15. The sammelan culminated with a sumptuous lunch and all Veernaris were happy to their association with the Armed Forces which surely brought back nostalgic memories, though briefly. The Veernaris left for their homes reassured that they could always fall back on the family Welfare Organisation in time of need.
AWWA DAY SHIMLA.
16. AWWA Day was celebrated at shimla on 22 Aug 2009. Regional President AWWA very kindly consented to preside over the function.
17. The function began with lighting of lamps and welcome speech. A cultural pgme by local troupe entertained the ladies. Regional President AWWA felicitated the ladies on the occasion. She also awarded Certificates of Excellence to o8 ladies and Badges of Appreciation to 16 ladies of HQ ARTRAC.
