CMP CENTRE, BANGALORE

Mrs Mala Jamwal visited CMP Centre & School Bangalore from 18 May to 20 May 2005. She appreciated the VTC activities being conducted with the help of 'Jan Shiksha Sansthan' of Central Govt to impart certified courses to PBOR families in 'Tailoring & Embroidery'.

The Cookery and Fabric Painting classes of the establishment were certainly generating lots of interest, as could be seen from the enthusiastic participation of the ladies. Mrs Kirti Kapoor had informal exchange of ideas with the PBOR families and was happy to find that they were more 'confident' and 'aware' of their role in running a house hold.

The President ARTRAC AWWA also visited the newly started Play Way School and asked the management to explore the possibility of starting 'Tuition Classes' for the Children, which have since been started.

With seven functional Committees, Welfare, Grooming, Education and Vocational Training at IMA AWWA is a well co-ordinated activity. Civillian employees on posted strength of the academy are also covered under the ongoing welfare activities and are well looked after. One year diploma course in 'Tailoring and Embroidery' and Self Grooming courses being run are well subscribed and very popular among the families.. Lectures and Demonstrations on wide ranging subjects like Health, Rights of Army Ladies, Education, Girl Child and Gender Equalities are a step towards 'Women Empowerment'.

IMA has a well run nursery school for the toddlers and a programme to take care of Special Children.

Family Welfare and Education programme for children at CME Pune is conducted with imagination and in a co-ordinated manner. FWC at the establishment is well geared to provide a platform for the PBOR families to display their latest talents which are further nurtured and honed to supplement the family income. The projects undertaken at CME for the PBOR families include Driving Training, Computer Courses, Spoken English for children and families, Yoga classes and Tailoring and Embroidery are other regular activities at CME Pune.

The establishment has two well run schools namely 'Holloway Primary School' having a strength of 647 students from Pre-primary to class Vth and Regimental School for children of PBOR and Civ employees, it is aided by Zilla Parishad. The school conducts a number of Extra-Curricular activities. A Summer Bonanza planned during the vacations covered large number of activities and competitions to include visit to NDA, Old Age Home and Orphanage. A 'Musical Evening' at the Paraplegic Centre by the children organised to bring out the humane values in the children was appreciated by all. Excursions, debate, painting and dance competitions were also conducted to keep the children busy in a fruitful manner during the vacations..

AWWA Military Intelligence School & Depot has been actively persuing the welfare programmes as per the guidelines of Central & ARTRAC AWWA for the over all benefit of PBOR families of serving and retired army personnel and to bring out the talents in their areas of interest and hobbies. Competitions are organised to evoke interest and desire to excel among the families and children.

The establishment runs a well organised Pratap Nursery School. A number of extra -curricular activities are conducted in the school for all round development of the children.

Mrs Ritu Jaswal appreciated the vocational activities of AWWA, School of Artillery, Devlali being carried out under the aegies of HRD Ministry to cover Candle Making, Fountain Making and Tailoring Classes.

The Asha School under the est is striving to provide the best of care and education to the Special Children. Five children ofAsha School won Gold Medals in All India Painting Competition organised by Creative Arts Academy, New Delhi. Students are also being prepared for 'Special Olympic Meet' to be held in Oct 2005.

The Presdent ARTRAC AWWA presented a cheque of Rs 5000/- to the Asha School for bringing in further improvements in the facilities for the special children.

Visit to JLA Ramgarh revealed details of certain need based and innovative activities being organised like lectures on precations against 'Snake Bite', 'Viral Fever, Organisation of 'Computer Awareness Month' for the PBOR families and children.Tiffin Making , Well Kept House,Cards and Rakhi Making and Rangoli competitions speak of functioning of a well organised AWWA outfit at Ramgarh.

Impromptu 'Ladies Sangeet' organised on the occasion of the marriage of the daughter of aJCO was an emotional and poignant event, amply reveals the presence of an inbuilt bond among theAWWA fraternity of the Academy.

MCEME Secundrabad

MCEME Secundrabad AWWA is notably carrying out innovative programme for PBOR families and children.In that a special 'Cricket Coaching Camp' organised for the boys and girls generated lots of enthusiasm among the participants with test cricketer VVS Laxaman giving batting tips. Dance classes, Painting and Essay Writing Competitions for the children are other highlights of the MCEME AWWA activities besides various Voational programmes for the families.

The establishment is going to start a special capsule for the young officer's wives for them to be more proactive in the affairs of AWWA in the units.

During the visits, Mrs Mala Jamwal met the officers ladies and PBOR families. She spoke to them about various welfare activities being initiated by Central AWWA for the general well being of service families and discussed their aspirations and problems. The president ARTRAC AWWA also visited the nursery or play schools being run by these ests and presented a cheque of sRs 5000/- each to them as a token of appreciation and for the improvement of facilities for the children.
