Project Aahwan

AAHWAN: AWWA’S MODEL SET UP OF A WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

AAHWAN in Hindi means 'A Call’.

It is AWWA's Call for Women Empowerment especially for our underprivileged and needy members. The project set up in 2006 is a noble vision and the dream project of the President AWWA, to be model of a women empowerment projects. Aahwan is designing and creating novelty products like Wax Candles, hand made Paper Bags, Office Files, Diaries and other handicraft items. The project is located near an army soldiers’ residential colony in Delhi Cantt. It has given employment to 40 women. Our war widows, differently abled girls and other active AWWA members are being empowered economically by this project. The old military barracks here have been transformed into a beautiful, archaic village. The walls of the barracks have been literally changed into spectacular paintings depicting Indian folk art. The red brick well, the huts, swings and a exquisite temple amidst the green trees have converted the whole place into an aesthetically and creatively designed ethnic Indian village. The whole experience is very unique - from the moment one steps in, one can feel the rustic and antique ambience. Though the set up is that of a village, the interior has modern processing lines for Wax Candles, Office Files and Paper Bags making under the guidance of a quality control professionals. The wax products are tested and certified by one of the India's prestigious testing laboratories. The candles are available in CSD (Canteen Stores Department).
